we’re kaitie and cody, partners in both life and business and we’re so happy you’re here. 

BE. opened in September 2024 but the name of “BE.”, was born in 2019 and was built upon the dream of creating a space for us to truly connect and find belonging. Different experiences in our life led to the vision of BE. being planted in our souls. First, we were blessed to visit Mauna Kea in protest against TMT. Witnessing the power of community on the Mauna with a shared value for culture and sacred spaces was unlike anything we'd ever felt before. This experience was soon followed by the covid-19 pandemic that hit just a few months later. The isolation of covid was such a stark contrast to the collaborative and community experience of Mauna Kea and yet we were all forced to stay home and re-evaluate what was important to us. While these two extreme examples set the foundation for BE., we also grew disheartened to see so many kānaka maoli (Native Hawaiians) and kamaʻāina (locals, "from the land") moving away from our islands in tandem with many continental chain businesses becoming more prevalent on Oʻahu and quickly realized the need for more spaces, specifically on the west side of Oʻahu, the ʻEwa moku, our home, for our people to find connection, healing, and BE.longing. 

Fast forward to 2024, the universe decided it was time for us to leave our former careers in education and hospitality to jump all in to BE.! Itʻs been the best journey and we are humbled by the kuleana of being able to meet so many of you and hear your stories. The privilege of being able to help you start your day off on the right foot is not beyond us. We believe that through connection with ourselves, our community, and our ʻāina, true liberation can arise. We hope that if ever you visit us, you feel the a deeper sense of connection and community and most importantly, BElonging. Whether itʻs through a sip of coffee or matcha, a chat with a new friend, or our community workshops, youʻll be able to take time for yourself to just BE.
